Saturday March 26, 2011 ---Circle of Hands Charity Event
The Circle of Hands Foundation is a Hartford based 501 (c) non profit organization that assist three orphanages in Jamaica that cares for children with HIV/AIDS. We work directly with the caregivers and children in the homes. In addition to providing school uniforms, fees for after school activities, sponsoring an annual outing for the children, we send $1,000 ( US ) per month to the homes to assist in the purchasing of food. 100% of the funds that we receive go directly to the children. Our only overhead expense is our post office box that we maintain. The organization is run by a group of dedicated volunteers and relies on the generosity of individuals and organizations to accomplish our mission.
One of our homes (Martha’s Home in Kingston ) suffered a devastating fire two years ago. Luckily none of the over 30 children who resided in the home were hurt. The children at this home were relocated to the main home (Day to Care) in Spanish Town . Martha’s House is being rebuilt at the Day to Care campus in Spanish Town and the current plan is to place all children under 10 years of age at this facility.
Currently there are 75 children (50 girls and 25 boys) ranging in age from 2-18 years old. 54 of the children are located in Spanish Town and the remaining 21 (all boys) are at Matthew 25:40 in Kingston . All the children are responding well to their ARV therapy. All the children are treated at the Pediatrics HIV/AIDS clinic at University of the West Indies Hospital in Kingston .
On March 26th will be having a benefit dinner to recognize several organizations and individuals who has supported us over the years. The function will be held at the City Hall Atrium at 550 Main Street , Hartford Conn. We look forward to your support. Like most non-profit organizations, we have experience a significant decrease in donations due to the global economic crisis. We are confident that with the generosity of others, we will be able to continue to carry on this very important mission/ministry that we have undertaken.
Please try to attend this event as we will provide you with an overview of the services that we provide to the orphanages.
We look forward to your support and I am looking forward to seeing you.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
